Horse racing has fallen by the wayside with Hinsdale Race Track, Rochester Fair and Rockingham Park all closing their doors in recent years. Rockingham Park had seen the likes of Seabiscuit and Mom’s Command race there but was closed for good in 2016 and demolished in 2017.
Up to this point, gambling at the tracks was and is still legal, although there are currently no places to do it.
However, thanks to some federal legislation called the Interstate Horseracing Act of 1978, it is legal to wager on horse races that occur in other states. Then in 2000, the act was further amended to allow the placing of bets over the internet, which means operators such as BetAmerica can offer residents in the state access to tracks around the world and the ability to watch the events live via streaming to their device of choice.
Although every care has been taken into providing the information for this map, state law can often change and this map is how we at GamingUSA understand the gambling law in each state to be as of March 27th 2023
