Michiganders have had access to Daily Fantasy Sports sites for several years, but they received no formal legal status until June 2018 when House Bill 6420 was passed (on the same day that the online casino gaming bill was presented).
The bill solidified what was already taking part in the state in relation to DFS leagues but stated that players must be of at least 18 years and the operators would need to pay an initial $50K licensing fee that is renewable annually for $20K.
Any DFS operators wanting to accept players from Michigan simply had to comply with the terms above.
