Like many states, Massachusetts chose to allow DFS games to take place after the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in 2006.
No official regulation is yet in place in the state despite several attempts over the years. The most recent attempt was in 2018 which had called for a minimum player age of 21, a gross tax rate of 15% and an annual licensing fee of $50,000.
Players can still happily play in leagues for real money on sites such as DraftKings and FanDuel, and the only drawback is that the state is yet unable to claim any revenue back from the operators.
Although every care has been taken into providing the information for this map, state law can often change and this map is how we at GamingUSA understand the gambling law in each state to be as of March 27th 2023
