Gambling in Indiana

Hoosier State residents are not short of access to a casino with the state having three land-based entities: the French Lick Resort Casino, Tropicana Evansville and the Four Winds South Bend, the latter being the only one run by Native Americans (the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi). In addition, there are 10 riverboat casinos to choose from. In these locations, visitors of the appropriate age can play traditional casino tabletop games such as craps and roulette alongside a never-ending array of slot machines.

If you are looking to place bets on MLB, the NHL, NBA or NFL, you may not be too disappointed for long. Currently, there are no sportsbooks available at any of these locations, but lawmakers in the state are looking to introduce legal sports gambling in Indiana in the near future. While you wait for this law to be amended, you are able to play DFS online or place parimutuel horse racing bets online too.

Meanwhile, gamblers can visit one of the two fully-licensed horse racing tracks in Indiana, which are also fully-fledged casinos, known as racinos. These locations offer slots and poker games after the venues were allowed to install electronic games back in 2007.
