Online Gambling in Hawaii
Just like the views taken by the lawmakers of Hawaii in regards to land-based locations, the authorities on the island have taken a dim view of ANY online gambling, and you will not be able to partake in horse and greyhound racing -- even those events that are taking place in other states across the country.
Although it is not gambling and it is viewed as a game of skill playing, Daily Fantasy Sports leagues online used to be accessible to residents of the Aloha state. For a while, the major operators such as FanDuel and DraftKings operated in Hawaii up until 2016 when state prosecutors declared that DFS violated the strict gambling laws and issued cease-and-desist warning to operators that were accepting players. Following that, the major players pulled the plug and are no longer be accepting players from the islands.
In 2017, a bill was put forward by Senate Vice President Michelle Kidani that would have established a Hawaiian internet state lottery and a gaming corporation for the purpose of conducting internet gambling in the state. That failed to make it into law but it does help keep the discussion going that one day the state will look to introduce online gambling.
