Despite having a seemingly pro-gambling population in Florida, the voters in the state chose to approve a 2018 statute known as Amendment 3, which in essence takes away the legislature's ability to consider gambling legislation. Race tracks in the state do allow simulcast betting on horse and greyhound racing. However, due to another recent vote by residents of Florida, the state will soon (January 2021) see an end to live greyhound racing from these venues, but simulcast betting on greyhound races will still be allowed on venues that operate from outside the state.
