You can’t get a more classic casino game than roulette, equally as fun to play online as it is in a casino. We’ll assume that you’ve never seen the game in action and will start at the beginning.
The game consists of a wheel that is numbered from 1-36 alternating red and black colors and there is a green 0, American versions have the wheels with a double zero “00” (this gives the house a significant edge and why European roulette is more popular). The table will also show the number set out in three columns with various betting options around the edge.
There are some American versions that allow for an additional bet referred to as a "basket bet". This is staked by placing chips in the same method as for a line bet on the outside of the dividing line between the zero row and the row that features 1, 2 and 3. This bet will pay out at odds of 6/1.
Playing the Game
Players are usually given a set of colored chips that are easily identifiable. On each turn, players choose they types of bets they wish to play. There is no limit on the number of chips they can use but certain bet types will have a minimum and a maximum stake depending on where you are playing.
Once all bets have been placed the croupier will spin the wheel, followed by the ball. They will then announce “no more bets,” the ball will eventually land on one of the slots on the roulette and the winner, if any, will be announced and paid.
